The new JLA returns to the original JLA headquarters. But someone or something already lives there!

The Justice League of America return to the Secret Sanctuary. The Gypsy loves the idea of operating in a secret headquarters, inside a hidden cave. Vibe is not particularly thrilled. When Vibe continues to disparage the Secret Sanctuary, the Gypsy retaliates, using her secret illusion-casting power. This action raises suspicions about the Gypsy in Vibe. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, and Steel, reactivate the hydro-electric generators, restoring power to the Secret Sanctuary. The Gypsy discovers a family of possums occupying the Secret Sanctuary. The Vixen seemingly detects an alien presence, but, mistakenly, shrugs it off.

Despero escapes from the prison planet, Takron-Galtos. Steel, and Vibe, as Henry Heywood and Paco Ramone, journey to Heywood's workplace. Ramone is not happy with the Secret Sanctuary's distance from New York City. Weightlifters taunt Ramone. Heywood begs Ramone to shrug it off. Ramone subtly uses his powers to get even. Heywood's client pressures him into taking an acting job. Zatanna investigates the disappearance of Sheri Stanley, a young woman who was subletting her apartment. Zatanna is horrified to discover Stanley's potential remains. The Elongated Man, the Gypsy, and the Vixen clean the Secret Sanctuary.

The Gypsy accidentally lets some of her personal history slip, then tries to cover her revelation with lies. The Vixen detects the alien presence again. The Vixen attacks a horrific alien creature. In retaliation, the alien horror subdues both the Vixen, and the Elongated Man. The Gypsy turns invisible to elude her monstrous adversary. The Gypsy hides from the creature. Only when the alien nightmare threatens the family of possums does the Gypsy take action against it. With one blow, the Gypsy subdues the creature, which, seemingly, begins to weep. The Elongated Man, and the Vixen, recover. The three heroes are uncertain about what to do with the strange being.
